Ross
Bob Music, music group gets together.
Started to listen to reggae music since high school.
Soul Music, you call it gospel music. Lord got to keep on moving, I know someday
we'll find a piece of land somewhere not near by babylon.
Love - woman taken my pride burned down to the ground. And you sing it with your
heart - you feel it mon.
Listen to ska music - news ones and the old. The old stuff is more related to
soul music and the lyrics are good. New ones are well - more into the upbeat
of the song but its good.
Well music is always within our hearts, reggae music is within our soul. Life
is one big rocky road, a bumpy and jumpy road and the only way you can ride on
with it to play reggae, the skanking beat.
October
2004."Waiting in vain" was the song that
sparked my interest in reggae. It was Annie Lennox
warbling soulfully in my ears. And as i hummed a few
lines of the song, i recalled the same title of the
song on the album "legend" by Marley.
I quickly changed the cd in my discman, surprisingly,
as the first notes of Marley's version hit my ears...i
fell deeply in love with reggae. And since then, ive
been in an unrelenting pursuit of finding reggae
fans, artists, and anyone who shares in the same spirit
of peace, unity, and ONE LOVE!
My trip to Cebu last February
2005 opened the doors to
my awareness with Cebu's local artists...and the
dedicated individuals who share the same passion. I
would have wanted to stay longer, but I know I still
had a lot to finish in Manila. When i do get the chance
to go back and rest my bones in the cradle of my
Reggae friends...i'll make sure i share just enough
news of what's happening with the reggae scene here.
From
a newbie's point of view, i'll share with you
stories of my adventures with the bars, bands, events,
and some of the individuals who make reggae thrive
in Manila.
I
was 3rd year high-school when I started to listen to
reggae music. I like because of its Beat, Messages
and How it praise the most High.
I do not have any particular song in my mind - there
are so many songs with different meanings. Each suits
you in every mood you have or situation.
To have a reggae party every week end and promote its
messages. Not just a reggae party where everyone is
just jamming to the beat but this is all about its
messages. Getting them to a higher perspective than
just the beat itself.
I always play reggae music not just for myself but
for the neighbors to hear. I'm passing the love for
this music to the children and they will continue this
and pass this to generations to come.
1996
when I started to listen to reggae music. My friend Nestor Cantilla invited me
to listen to it. Then when I worked in Texas Fried Chicken, I meet another Rasta
guy and my love for reggae has gone stronger.
1997 I had my first reggae album "Natural Mystic" and "Legend". "Redemption
Song", has inspired me ever since. I do like Bob's popular songs like "Stir
it up" and "No Woman No Cry".
I prefer the old Bob records but I do listen to a variety of reggae music. I'm
planning to expand my reggae library, searching for good reggae music.
Well, reach out to the community and promote reggae music, not just to popularize
it but to actually help the community with it.
I organized the RASTAMBAYZ in our community. Sharing my music so they can listen
to rare reggae records. Most of the time I try to influence them with reggae
music that inspires them to break away from their mental slavery.
23 and I run a carenderia, I plan to paint this store with the colors of life
and identify itself as a reggae hang-out in my small community.
The
site was uploaded primarily to promote Filipino reggae to the world but then
we've realized that the site must do more than just promote items. So by the
power of Jah we added new features for the site: 1. this site will keep our brothers
and sisters here and abroad updated with the reggae events. 2. come up with a
resource for Filipino reggae. 3. spread peace, love and unity through forums;
facilitate the exchange of song impression to help each other understand the
meaning and messages of the songs. [Visit
